Checklist for Going Out with a Baby 0-6 Months

Taking your baby out for the first time can be both exciting and daunting. With proper planning and a comprehensive checklist, you can ensure a smooth and enjoyable outing.

BIG TIP! Get everything ready once for all the outings and don’t remove anything from the diaper bag unless it’s dirty and need replacements. When you have only a few hours to get out you need everything ready ahead of time! I find it useful not to think what I need everytime I go out! I know I have everything ready – I just grab the bag and go!

Here’s a detailed checklist that I have to help you prepare for a successful trip with your little one:

The food I pack before I head out.

[ ] Food
[ ] Bottles with breastmilk or
[ ] Empty bottles (if you do formula)
[ ] Formula powder
[ ] Water bottle (to prep formula)

Tips! I don’t usually prepare the formula from home. I carry empty bottle, water and the formula powder in a container like this one. I also carry the scoop from one of the formula boxes, so I can measure it on the spot and prepare formula on the go!

Everything below I always keep in the backpack (aka diaper bag) so I don’t have to pack it all the time.

[ ] Accessories
[ ] Carry-on or Stroller
[ ] Diaper bag
[ ] Bib
[ ] Breastfeeding Cover (if breastfeeding)
[ ] Burp Cloth or Paper Towel (few sheets)
[ ] Pacifiers

[ ] Changing
[ ] Portable Diaper Changing Pad
[ ] Diaper
[ ] Wet Wipe
[ ] Ziploc Bags or wet bag
[ ] Kleenex
[ ] Diaper Cream

[ ] Changing Clothes
[ ] Onesie Short Sleeves
[ ] Onesie Long Sleeve
[ ] Leggings
[ ] PJ footie (up to 6m I used only PJ)
[ ] Hoodie

[ ] Outside
[ ] Jacket if cold
[ ] Hat ❄️/Sun Hat ☀️
[ ] Sunscreen

[ ] Toys for the car ride or in the stroller
[ ] Teether
[ ] Sensory toys (fish, books)
[ ] Tissue box
[ ] Baby Einstein Star Symphony (attach it on the stroller or carseat)
[ ] Toy bar (on the carseat)
[ ] Black and white toys (Only at 4-6 months, babies start to see most of the color spectrum)

By preparing well and keeping this checklist handy, you’ll be ready for anything that comes your way. Enjoy your time out with your baby!
