What is considered fever in babies?

My baby, 1 year, has a mild fever 99-100 F. When should I be concerned and take him to the doctor? He’s still active and drinking fluids, but he seems a bit more irritable than usual. We’ve been giving him plenty of fluids and keeping him comfortable, but I’m not sure if we should wait it out or seek medical advice.

Elevated body temperature is over 100.4°F.

Monitor his temperature and behavior to make sure it doesn't increase. If the fever persists for more than a couple of days, is very high and it doesn't go away with Motrin or Tylenol for babies, or he shows other concerning symptoms, consult your pediatrician. Ensure he stays hydrated and comfortable in the meantime.
